Zoe Elizabeth Norman has transitioned from watercolors to oil paints, embracing a more impressionistic style in her figurative and landscape works. She finds freedom in loose brush strokes and delights in the texture and vibrant colors of oil paints, which have become her preferred medium. Painting has become her daily therapy, grounding her in happiness. Inspired by 19th-century artists like Gustav Klimt, John Waterhouse, and Claude Monet, Norman immerses herself in expressive impressionism, drawing from secluded natural settings for inspiration.

Gathering sketches, photographs, and other references, Norman refines her ideas in the studio. Her notable collection, inspired by Claude Monet's garden in Giverny, reflects her ongoing fascination with nature's beauty. Using a warm-colored ground and alla prima technique, she captures the essence of her subjects with immediacy, emphasizing texture and movement in her landscapes.

Norman's deep appreciation for plants and flowers, honed through her background in botanical illustration and gardening, is evident in her work. Recently, she has ventured into a new series inspired by ancient British myths and legends, blending figurative elements with her love for textiles and patterns.
