Mixed media artist and photographer Edward Bock, inspired by the shapes and movements of the natural world, uses unexpected textures, colors, and mediums to create abstract paintings and fine art photography. His childhood explorations in the swamps of St. Louis fueled his fascination. Initially studying science, a Mass Communications class at the University of Miami sparked his interest in filmmaking and photography. After serving as a motion picture photographer in the U.S. Army, Bock founded his multimedia and commercial photography business. Alongside commercial work, he melded images, experimenting with color palettes and exposure times. In 2006, Bock closed his commercial studio to focus on painting, stating, "I put down the camera and picked up a brush."
